Black Manhattan (made with Averna amaro)

A stunning twist on the classic Manhattan, this one swaps sweet vermouth for Averna Amaro — and it's just as easy to pull together at home.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ounces rye whiskey
  • 1 ounce Averna amaro
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • 1 brandied cherry for garnish

Method
 

  1. Add ice to a mixing glass and then add the rye, Averna amaro, and bitters
    2 ounces rye whiskey, 1 ounce Averna amaro, 1 dash Angostura bitters, 1 dash orange bitters
  2. Strain into a coupe glass.
  3. Serve with a brandied cherry on a cocktail skewer.
