Sage Cocktails

These sage cocktails are some of my favorite ways to put that earthy, garden-fresh herb to good use. Whatever your spirit of choice, there's a drink here for every mood and season.

Sage might just be my favorite herb to mix into a cocktail. It has this earthy, slightly savory quality that adds real depth to a drink, and it plays beautifully with so many spirits. I started reaching for it whenever my garden was overflowing one summer, and now I keep finding new ways to use it year-round. These are the sage cocktails I come back to again and again.

What I love about making mixing with sage is how versatile it is. It softens the bite of gin, complements the smoky edge of mezcal, and adds a gorgeous garden-fresh note to a classic whiskey sour. Pair it with bright citrus, and you get an earthy, fresh sip in every sip. Pair it with sweet pineapple, and it turns into something unexpected and craveable. A little sage syrup, a salted rim, or a pretty candied leaf can take a familiar drink somewhere new.

The best part? Most of these cocktails using sage come together in minutes, and a few simple sage extras like syrup and salt do all the flavor work for you. Whether you're hosting friends or just winding down after a long day, there's a sage cocktail here worth pouring.
