5-Minute Frozen Margaritas (no mix!)

This frozen margarita is made with tequila, fresh lime juice, triple sec, and agave, then blended with ice for a smooth, icy cocktail. It's bright, citrusy, and perfectly balanced.

With tons of margarita recipes on this blog, it's safe to say we take summer sipping seriously. So when I tell you this frozen margarita is something special, I mean it - it's icy, bright, perfectly balanced, and exactly what you want in your hand when the sun's out and the patio's calling.

I keep the focus on flavor: fresh lime for that zippy tartness, good tequila for a clean, crisp base, and just enough sweetness to round everything out. Blended with ice, it turns into the smoothest, frosty slush that's refreshing and easy to sip.

If you're in the mood for something fruit-forward, my frozen strawberry margarita is another favorite to try. But this classic version is hard to beat-simple, vibrant, and exactly what you want on a warm day.

Kosher salt or Tajin, Lime wedges or wheels
  2. Put the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, agave syrup, and ice into a high-powered blender.
1 cup tequila, ½ cup lime juice, ½ cup triple sec, ¼ cup agave syrup, 6 cups ice cubes
  3. Blend on high until smooth and slushy.
  4. Pour your frozen margaritas into the margarita glasses and add a lime wheel or wedge to garnish.

Notes

Tajin is a seasoning blend made of chili, lime, and sea salt. It's my favorite margarita salt.
Agave syrup blends easily, which is why I use it in this recipe. You can also use honey, but you'll need to mix it with a bit of hot water first. Simple syrup also works well.
I like to use silver (blanco) tequila as it has a mild flavor. For a stronger tequila flavor, opt for gold (reposado) tequila.
Variations: This is a fun recipe to switch up with some frozen fruit. Instead of all the ice, use 4 cups of ice and 2 cups of frozen fruit. Try strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, mango, raspberries, or watermelon. Or add a few jalapeño slices to the blender for a spicy version!
